Land Rover DC100 Sport Concept

Call to the Wild

The Land Rover DC100 Sport Concept is an off-road concept vehicle intended to demonstrate a new future-forward aesthetic of the long-running Defender, with a design refresh planned for production in 2020. With a roofless design inspired by the old Defenders with removable canvas roofs, the Sport model is geared towards outdoor enthusiasts, and internally referred to as “leisure-oriented”, in conjunction with their utility (Defender), and luxury (Range Rover / Evoque) models.

Ombrae Studios was commissioned by Jaguar Land Rover' design team to implement a textural grip surface in Ombrae spanning the cabin floor mats and lining the cargo flatbed in the rear. The "tigerstripe" pattern motif carried through the leather seat uphosltry, and evokes a call to explore wild terrains while engaged in a variety of possible outdoor pursuits: from the beach to the mountains. Ombrae Studios provided design consultation, technical input, and built the rubber floor coverings in our Vancouver studio. The vehicle was introduced in Germany, at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 2011.
